Advanced Web Application Firewall
Attacks on web applications are often the cause of data theft
Using applications such as online stores and customer portals, companies can provide services to their customers via the Internet. Customers can thus access the company’s services around the clock.
At the same time, web applications also soften the perimeter of a company. Queries from the Internet are forwarded directly to databases in the company’s back end and executed. This makes the company’s internal resources vulnerable to attack. Even a single vulnerability in a web application can be enough for an attacker to gain access to the complete data pool of a web application. Once an attacker has successfully compromised a system for the first time, he will attempt to attack other systems within the company network.
To reduce the attack surface of web applications, so-called Web Application Firewalls (WAF) can be used. F5 has developed the Advanced WAF solution, which represents a new generation of application protection and enriches the WAF market with unique features. The Application Security Manager (ASM) with advanced application protection provides security against the latest waves of attacks. The defenses against OWASP Top 10 are complemented by behavioral analysis, machine learning and proactive bot defense. Brute force attacks with stolen user data can be prevented and login pages can be protected against phishing and data extraction.
